  • And the winners are...

    No-one.

Although still frequented by a few die hard King's Headers for the Saturday Night Pop Extravaganza, the Old Bell is frequently empty and almost always closed on Monday nights and other times. I foresee the rapid rise of a block of flats when the current lease is up.

This is another blog I'm going to allow to snuff it when it comes up for renewal in January.

  • Bad ch-ch-changes

Amazing. You'd think new management would try to keep their customers in a pub like this, out of the way with very little passing trade, but no.

Military behaviour, perceived rudeness and a generally unpleasant tone have driven out 90% of the customers including the crib team and both darts teams. Now everyone is in the Jolly Butchers or the Wheatsheaf down the road.

I've been told the new management took the place over on a three month lease with an option to buy - well, I can't see them getting finance together on the basis of their current fiscal state, it must be terrible.

The three months are up soon, so with a bit of luck someone, somewhere will see sense and the Old Bell will become a pub again instead of a barracks... or a fuckin' block of flats.

  • Ch-ch-ch-changes...

Mick and Lisa went a few weeks ago. New people in and the beer prices have been raised by up to 30p a pint. The furniture's been rearranged in a formal style.

Whether any of this works remains to be seen.

And did I mention the extra 30p on a pint.

  • New Years' Eve, 2007

    It was nearly 2008.
The Old Bell hosted a karaoke event.
I was slightly pissed and loose with camera...

If you really don't want your mug posted here, then email me... otherwise it's a fait accompli. (This page isn't the pub's idea, so don't go moaning to The Management about it.) Make sure you type Old Bell in the subject line, or the spam machine will eat it.

Just like the government with all their stupid ideas and those bastards that put your email address in online directories without asking, permission won't be sought!

For what it's worth, hi-res versions of these shots are available.

If you really feel the need to leave a message, then carry on.

This blog can be found on the internet (what can't?), but it's not publicly available on the blogging site.
